Rui Jorge Faria Azevedo (born 9 December 1980 in Guimarães), known as Faria, is a Portuguese footballer who plays for C.D. Aves in the Portuguese second division, as a goalkeeper.

Football career

Faria joined Clube Desportivo das Aves in 1999. In the following year, he was loaned to amateurs Grupo Desportivo Serzedelo in his native region, returning after one season in the fourth division.

After being used intermittently, Faria became the undisputed starter in 2004, helping to Aves' promotion to the top flight two years later, after an absence of more than 20 years. He made his debut in the competition on 26 August, in a 2–2 draw at S.C. Beira-Mar, and kept his starting place until the following January transfer window, when he lost it to veteran Nuno Espírito Santo.

In April 2007, Faria suffered a season-ending injury, as Aves was finally relegated, as last.[1] He appeared in 70 second division matches in the next three seasons combined.
